STAR STUDENTS 3 rd GRADE TOKEN ECONOMY PROJECT Presented by Alicia Mears and Christopher Mulesky

OUR CLASSROOM RULES Being on task Passing in homework on time Respectful in all school environments Rising hands before speaking Student will follow their individual contract Follow teacher directions

REWARDS When the student’s “Star Student” card is filled up they may either redeem it for a prize from the prize box or trade it for a raffle ticket that will be drawn at the end of each month. When the whole class receives a “punch” on their “Star Student” card at the end of the class day the teacher assistant of the day will put one marble in a jar. Once the jar has 20 marbles in it the whole class will receive Pizza and Movie party.

PRIZES Prize Box: Pencils Pens Small plastic toys Erasers (fun shapes) Extra computer time tickets Play-dough, putty, and slime Stickers Raffle prizes: A skip/pass on a homework assignment Two free tickets to Monster Golf Lunch with the teacher

CONSEQUENCES Individual Consequences: Verbal warning Timeout in class (during timeout no punches will be given) Note home in daily planner For the whole class as a group: Students will be reminded that they could have had a marble but they cannot get one due to poor behavior

SEVERE CLAUSE In a severe case where the student’s behavior is so bad that it cannot be dealt with in class the student will receive not only a note home but will also be sent to the principal’s office.

HOW THE PUNCHES ARE GIVEN? The teacher will keep a tally sheet to keep track of how many punches are given for that day. Everyone starts the day on the teacher’s tally sheet with ZERO, it is up to them to gain punches that day.

HOW ARE TOKENS DELIVERED? Whenever the student engages in positive behaviors the teacher will verbally tell the student that they received a punch and then record a tally on a sheet of paper. At the end of each day the teacher will actually give the punches out to the student’s cards. By keeping a tally sheet the teacher will be able to clearly see if the whole class is entitled to get a marble for that day. All punches and marbles will be given out at the end of each class day before dismissal.

ACCOMMODATIONS For the ELL student’s benefit the rules will be posted in the room with pictures such as a student with their hand up for the rule, raising hand before speaking.
