P08211 – 5-minute Commercial DPM Student - Shadle Stewart Final Period - 11/12/07
One day at Raymond Test Labs… Raymond Corp. Test Patrol Raymond Lift Truck
One day at Raymond Test Labs… I don’t know! My radar gun isn’t accurate enough! How fast was that Lift Truck going??? Raymond Corp. Test Patrol
One day at Raymond Test Labs… All we need is a group of RIT Engineering Students Looks like we need to fix this problem. Raymond Corp. Test Patrol
One day at Raymond Test Labs… A Ruggedized Data Recorder to document the velocity and acceleration. What can they help us to design? Raymond Corp. Test Patrol
What’s the purpose of the project? The P08211 project will be designed to: –Measure the speed and acceleration of a forklift truck by a wheel or other ground contact method –Transmit the data wirelessly to a data recorder –Display the real-time speed on a wireless display –Interface seamlessly with the data recorder and measuring device designed by the P08210 project team
What types of students are needed? Electrical Engineers interested in: –Designing a system using a sensor to measure the speed and wirelessly interface with a data recorder and real-time speed display Mechanical Engineers interested in: –Designing a mechanical solution for the recorder to attach to the lift truck and for the system to handle turns Industrial Engineer interested in: –Interfacing with another team for modular designed parts, documentation of testing procedures and LabView software
What will the students get out of it? Learn about working on a multidisciplinary design team Learn technical knowledge about some data sensing, recording, and wireless systems Have the chance to work with a corporate sponsor that has interest in RIT graduates
