Types of Programs 1. Local Certificate 2 – 17 units 3. New State Approved Certificate 12 – 17 units 2. State Approved Certificate 18+ units

1. Local Certificate 2 – 17 units The approval process for local certificates is the same as course approval. State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase A – Concept Development: Step 1: Educational Program Concept Initiation Step 2:Concept Development – Department Approval and Discipline Consultation Step 3: Campus Academic Planning Council Review Step 4: Research Step 5: Campus Academic Senate Step 6: Campus Strategic Planning Committee Review

1. State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase C – Curriculum and Program Development: Step 9: Curriculum Development Step 9 should result in a complete program proposal, course proposal forms, and other supporting documentation. This proposal, the Application for Approval (C) or (D) with signatures, the Concept Form (A) and Signature Sheet (B) should be submitted to the Curriculum Committee Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs for review and approval signature. Step 9 should result in a complete program proposal, course proposal forms, and other supporting documentation required by the Chancellor’s Office and the District Curriculum Committee. This proposal, the Application for Approval (C) or (D) with signatures, the Concept Form (A) and Signature Sheet (B) should be submitted to the Curriculum Committee and to the Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs for review and approval signature. This completes Step 9 and Phase C.
