Tar Pits –To Program or not to Program? Sirens –Is there truly permanence?

Life is Tar Pits and Sirens Impress upon the designer specific needs Provide methods and guidelines Provide design software Separate the interface design.

Conceptual Model –The designer’s view of the system. System Image –The image that the system presents to the user. Mental Model –The view of the system that the user develops

There are no simple answers, only tradeoffs. There are no errors; all operations are iterations towards a goal. Low level protocols are critical. Activities are structured. Information retrieval dominates activity.
