The Angles By: Jose Calip

Angles The Angles were one of the group of people who traveled from Germany to Britain during the 5 th century, along with the Saxons and the Jutes. Britain was then later called Engla-Lond which is Land of the Angles in Old English.

Angles The Anglo-Saxons traveled to England because of the whole fall of the Roman Empire around AD 410. They also brought their own religious beliefs, but the approaching of Saint Augustine in 597 changed most of the country’s to christianity.

Even though the Angles, Jutes and the Saxons was the main groups of tribes who invaded Britain, but the Frisians and the Swedes who shared the same generous Germanic culture.

Why they traveled to England? British leaders hired these mercenaries for protection. They are very helpful long as they are paid.
