The Role of the European Office in Vienna in Cross-border Activities Successful cooperation needs and intensive exchange of knowledge and experience between national and international experts in the field of education, decision- makers and workers in the field of pedagogy. Everyone who is working in this field needs to have a lot of specific skills and knowledge (special competences) and willingness to overcome linguistic, cultural and political barriers. Education has to prepare young people to become active members in the society. Therefore they have to be able to act in everyday life, in the professional and the personal environment. 6th DRC Summer School on Regional Cooperation, Budapest, July 2009
