Presentation transcript:

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting Global Analysis Group Leaders: Alain Blondel, deputies Christos Touramanis and Eric Zimmerman Charge: To study and optimize the running strategy and data analysis for the T2K experiment to produce the best physics return, to develop high-level algorithms needed for oscillation analysis given the distributions produced by the other detector working groups.

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting The group leaders of the different Working Groups are expected to meet regularly, chaired by the leader of the Global Analysis Working Group, to coordinate overall T2K analysis. The leaders of the working groups may decide to create coordination committees, made up of members of the working groups, to insure consistent solutions to common problems (for instance a software coordination group may be necessary).

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting Members of the collaboration can contribute to more than one Working Group. This cross-membership actually will be very valuable in keeping the activities of the different groups consistent and coordinated.

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting items for discussion --pooling the T2K members to ask where and how they would like to contribute how? -- drafting a workplan and milestones -- evaluate issues involved in analysis and identify possible missing pieces! 'burning issues': Monte carlos: how will they be used? Specification? Blind analysis interfaces between tasks

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting Physics goals (by asymptotic importance) 1.  --> e appearance 2.  disappearance (atmo parameters) 3.  cross-sections (and anti-neutrinos) 4. e cross-sections (and anti-neutrinos) 5. completely new searches Physics goals (by chronology) 1.  cross-sections (and anti-neutrinos) 2.  disappearance (atmo parameters) 3. completely new searches 4.  --> e appearance 5. e cross-sections (and anti-neutrinos)

Alain Blondel Analysis meeting

Rules of the game 1.Software availability... change control. Who is authorized to modify/commit what? 2.Event generator MonteCarlo... code availability. Joint ND280/SK group 3.Beamline code.. data from beamline monitors+INGRID+SHINE (interfaces) 4.'blind analysis' for what? -- my prejudice: 'box' type only practical for e search. But will have to proceed by predefined increases of statistics (to define these steps should be one of the first goals) -- other techniques 5. blessing of analyses? define process. (see ICA... is this enough?) how are analysis 'ideas' published? (Scientific notes?)... preparing publications...
