Business Statistics BU305 Chapter 2 Descriptive Stats: Tabular & Graphic

Chapter 2 Qualitative Data: (one way analysis) Frequency Distributions: use ‘countif’ function use ‘pivot table’ Bar graph & Pie Chart

Chapter 2 Quantitative Data: (one way analysis) Frequency Distributions: use ‘frequency’ function use ‘pivot table’ use ‘histogram’ option in tools/data analysis Bar graph & Pie Chart

Chapter 2 Two way analysis: (Quant. and/or Qual. Data) Crosstabulations: (qualitative/quantitative data) use ‘pivot table’ option under ‘data’ Scattergrams: (quantitative data) use ‘chart wizard’ (add trend line)

Chapter 2 Qualitative Data: (one way analysis) (use ‘SoftDrink’ file) Frequency Distributions: shows number of items in each of several non overlapping classes. use ‘countif’ function (use ‘counta’ function for no. of items) use ‘pivot table’ Relative and Percent Frequency Distributions Bar graph and Pie Chart

Chapter 2 Quantitative Data: (one way analysis) (use ‘Audit’ file) Frequency Distributions: First determine: 1. Number of classes (usually 5-10) 2. Width of class (must be equal width) 3. Class limits (must be non overlapping) Then construct using: 1. ‘frequency’ function 2. ‘pivot table’ 3. ‘histogram’ option in tools/data analysis

Chapter 2 Quant. and/or Qual. Data: (two way analysis) Crosstabulations: (qualitative/quantitative data) use ‘pivot table’ option under ‘data’ construct row, column, and joint prob. tables (use file ‘Restaurant’) Scattergrams: (two quantitative variables) use ‘chart wizard’ (add trend line) (use file ‘Stereo’)
