Health Care for America Education Fund Quality, affordable health care we can all count on.

The HCAEF Mission Help create and maintain a guarantee of quality and affordable health care for all through public education, policy research, grassroots organizing, and coalition-building. * HCAEF is a 501c3 sponsored by the Tides Foundation and works closely with its 501c4 partner, Health Care for America Now.

Why? We achieved major health care reform in 2010 and cannot turn back the clock to when: 45 million people were without insurance 20 million people were underinsured 20% of uninsured Americans were children Rapidly increasing health care costs were straining families, businesses and government

HCAN Steering Committee National Women’s Law Center National Education Association Campaign for Community Change National Council of La Raza USAction Working America American Federation of Teachers NAACP Americans United for Change Campaign for America’s Future Center for American Progress Action Fund AFSCME SEIU ACORN UFCW MoveOn.org AFL-CIO Communication Workers of America ** Over 1,000 national, state, and local organizations signed on as supporters

Our Track Record of Success… President Barack Obama said "I am proud to join HCAN's efforts to tackle the tough challenges we face in reforming our nation's healthcare system." Developed coalitions in 43 states that changed attitudes, mobilized action, educated lawmakers and created change.

Our Track Record of Success… Released national and state reports concerning: Lack of insurance industry competition Premium affordability Racial and ethnic disparities Impact of health reform on state budgets Health insurance industry abuses

Our Track Record of Success… Orchestrated two national marches in Washington, DC with 15,000 people in attendance. (See video of March 2009 event here.) Held 200 mobilization events nationwide involving 15,000 people and 40 Members of Congress in April Held more than 50 “Sick of It” actions in 32 states to express the public’s displeasure with insurance company profits and maltreatment of patients.

It’s Now What? Now the hard part starts. In order to maintain health care reform, HCAEF will do the following: Public Education on health care reform and its benefits Research on reform, industry, and disparities Implementation at state and national levels Coalition-building at state and national levels Small business education and outreach

The Urgency Now is the time is a critical year. We must show the public how new health care reform components positively affect them as they consider their choices for representation in Congress. We cannot turn back the clock.
