Book Ⅲ Lesson 46 The Universe And Man-made Satellite

Yang liwei is great! China is great China is great!

The universe:the earth, the sun,the moon and the stars, and the space between them.

The moon is only 380,000 kilometres away.

In July,1969,the human beings landed on the moon the first time.

The use of the man-made satellite: To learn more about the earth. To forecast the weather. To send and receive messages. To do some other things.

The universe and man-made satellites: The meaning of the universe. The moon is the satellite of the earth. The use of the man-made satellites. Our knowledge of the universe grows and the universe develops.

Answer the questions: 1.What do we mean when we talk about the universe? We mean the earth, the sun,the moon and the stars, and the space between them. 2.Why can´t many stars be seen? Because they are too far away. 3.How far is the moon away from the earth? It´s only 380,000 kilometres away. 4.Has the man been visited by man already? Yes. 5.What are satellites used for? Can you give some example? They´re used for learning more about the earth, the weather and some other things. 6.Why do we say the world itself is becoming smaller and smaller? Because the satellites help us understand communicate with each other more and more easily.

Fill in the blanks: The universe means the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars, and the space between them. Many of the stars are so far away that we can´t see them. The moon, our satellites, travels around the earth. It has already been visited by man in space ships. Man-made satellites have been sent up into space by many countries. They go

around the earth. They are used for helping us to learn more about the earth, the weather and other things. They are also used for sending and receiving messages. It makes people from different countries understand each other better. So people say the world itself is becoming a much smaller place.People call the small place “the global village”.
