Notes Force. Force is a push or pull exerted on some object. Forces cause changes in velocity. The SI unit for force is the Newton. 1 Newton = 1 kg m/s.
FORCES. Force  any push or pull  Example: opening a door  Pushing something across the floor.
First Law : An object at rest stays at rest. An object in motion, stays in motion, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Newton’s 1 st Law Inertia. Force Anything capable of changing an object’s state of motion Any push or pull Causes object to speed up, slow down, or change.
* An object’s change in position relative to a reference point. * Without a reference point we are unable to see motion.

2- when a ball is given a push, it moves a short distance and the ball then comes to rest. This is because an opposing force called friction force that acts on the ball. Opposing force acting on the ball

3-If the surface is very smooth, there will be no opposing force acting on the moving ball. The ball will continue to move at the same speed in a straight line. Smooth surface
