Multilingual indexing

Extracting information from multilevel structures

Time-spatial search interfaces

Indexing map collection Bounding box, encoded in MARC21 Including temporal information. Presentation layer for time-spatial searching Georeferencing map is fully possibly but unclear who will take such responsibility.

Full text index/search with place names Adds value for local historians Combined with geocrosswalk it can enable search and visualization of context within an article or book. Problem defining the exact meaning of the geografical information in book. Ambiguity will always exists.

Some conclusion Need of knowledge exchange between experts in geographical information and library experts. Google maps is (just) a client with a fixed background map. Cooperation with different stakeholder can ensuring better accuracy in maintaining authority geospatial information
