Quebec’s Independence Movement Unit 8

Quebec’s Independence Movement Because of Canada’s English and French history, many Canadians speak French as well as English. Many of the French speakers live in Quebec. Some of these people want Quebec to be independent from the rest of Canada.

Quebec’s Independence Movement The government has passed laws to ensure that the French speaking people can preserve their culture. They made Canada bilingual They also have given the Canadians the right to preserve their own culture. Quebec has also been labeled a “distinct Society”

Quebec’s Independence Movement The people who want to be separate from Canada are called separatists. Many Separatists feel that their culture and history are not being preserved in Canada. ch?v=PihGpM9-yi4 ch?v=PihGpM9-yi4

Quebec’s Independence Movement French is the only official language in Quebec. In Quebec English may be used for advertisement but it must be placed after the French words and it must be smaller in size
