Some Things to Consider Bill Swan, Chief Economist, Boeing (retired) Airports are everybody’s interface but nobody’s system. The greatest contribution of the new-generation carriers is improvement in the loading and unloading process. Airport costs cannot rise in a time when airplane costs are decreasing.

More Things to Think About David Pang, ACI Pacific Chairman Ideally, airports are at the center of integrated multi- modal flows of people, goods, information and capital. As the focus of flows, airports are also at the center of crises. Airports are: an infrastructure business. a service business. an “experience” business.

Do We Agree? If so, what are the implications for our customers and the ability to render expected service? What are the consequences of falling short? What are the signs of inadequate service? Is it possible to be all these things, successfully? Is partnership the answer? How do airports reconcile the low cost/high service conundrum?
