T-Systems’ Experiences Cost Efficiency in Healthcare

T-Systems, February 2007 Where we are? T-Systems’ global delivery capability.

T-Systems, February 2007 T-Systems International. Facts & Figures. T-Systems International 2006 Turnover: 11,0 billion € roughly employees ICT-Highlights Software- Developer Operation of 1,3 mil. desktop- computers 32 data centers around the globe open system servers Telekom Global Net in more than 50 countries with 226 Points of Presence km land and sea cable Over 2000 TC- Solutions for MNCs

T-Systems, February 2007  SAP CORE Modules  SAP for Healthcare  i.s.h.med basis  other i.s.h.med modules  Enhanced through client application voice recording, speech recognition card readers biometrical measures  Typical 3rd party systems, integrated through standard interfaces: LIS PACS Multimedia Archive ICU Monitoring  BI - Management Information System Fully Integrated Hospital Information System. Based on SAP Platform – SAP NetWeaver.

T-Systems, February 2007 Network across all Healthcare Service providers  Hospitals  General Practitioners  Specialists  Nursing Services  Emergency Units  Pharmacies  etc. Availability of patients’ medical data  Anywhere  At any time  For authorized persons/professionals  At required extent EU wide objective! e-Health. The Strategy.

T-Systems, February 2007 Quality of care  Patients‘ full and transparent medical histories available to authorized users  Transparency of medical documentation across healthcare providers  Awareness of medical incompatibilities, preceding diseases, etc.  Increased and possibly optimal interaction between healthcare providers Cost Efficiency  Optimal availability of medical information  Awareness and utilization of already existing findings for recent diseases  Less redundant medical examinations or treatments  Usage of international interoperability standards ensures protection of investment eHealth Integrator. Customer’s Benefit.

T-Systems, February 2007 Standards are the key for improvements in quality and reduction of costs  Interoperability standards for solution development IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise): recommendation for standard rules  “The goal of the IHE initiative is to stimulate integration of healthcare information resources to improve clinical care.” IHE provides considerable standardization advantages with the extensive function range of products and a greater selection of solution approaches.  IHE does not formulate any new standards, instead it consistently uses existing standards (like HL7, ebXML and DICOM). eHealth Integrator supports technical Standards:  PIX - Patient Identifier Cross-referencing, PDQ - Patient Demographics Query  XDS - Cross-Enterprise Clinical Document Sharing  ATNA – Audit Trail and node authentication, CT – Consistent Time eHealth Integrator. Standardization is a Key Factor for Success.

T-Systems, February 2007 Operative Advantages  The use of the e-card together with the patient index guarantees definite identification of the patient as well as fast data entry during admission in primary systems.  The Electronic Patient Record provides treatment security and the potential for cost reduction due to network-wide transparent documentation for the patient.  Consistent vocabulary due to the use of standard catalogs for document categories, departments, … Consistent document architecture (CDA Level 2) planned. eHealth WAN. Summary (1).

T-Systems, February 2007 Protection of Investment  IHE-compliant solution due to use of multiply checked components in IHE Connectathons in Europe and USA.  Interoperability to current and future systems in the network as well as neighboring networks.  Conformity with eHR requirements due to greatest possible use of standards (HL7, ebXML, DICOM)  Maintained standard product with IHE-compliant functionality and consideration of local requests.  Integration module to SAP IS-H / i.s.h.med available as add-on.  Can be enhanced according to IHE profile development eHealth WAN.
