CAD Challenge Professionals and students both use CAD to design everything from mechanical components to complex systems to competition robots. The VEX design system is designed using CAD, and students design their robots using CAD models of VEX parts. In the VEX Robotics Engineering CAD Challenge, participants will use CAD to design their own VEX part or parts, and then use those parts in a complete VEX robot design. Use CAD design software to create a new VEX part and then design a robot or robotically-controlled machine that uses the new part as a significant component. The robot may be a VEX competition robot, a robot that does some other interesting task, or a smaller-scale model of a larger machine. You may use any CAD software for this challenge.

Photography Challenge Through photography, showcase youth using VEX to explore STEM. Compose a photograph that features one or more students working on a robot, testing, planning or celebrating your VEX team’s accomplishments. Use a photograph to show the Judges something about your own story of involvement on a competition team, in a classroom or as a hobbyist working with VEX.

STEM Educational Video Create a video to teach a new team something about the STEM aspects of robotics engineering or construction that you have learned from experience that can help them better prepare for a competition. You should come up with your own idea, but here are some sample ideas from previous years’ Educational Videos: –How to calculate loads for robotics mechanisms –How to build a specific mechanism such as a drive train, lifting arm –How to best use specific robotics components in designing a robot –How to use programming with the hardware to accomplish something specific

Website Challenge This challenge is to develop a website that promotes your entire robotics program; your VEX Robotics Competition, VEX U, or VEX IQ Challenge team(s), and any other robotics programs you participate in, your outreach activities, how to join, what you have done, who you are, where you are, and what you plan to do in the future. In short, build a website that tells the world how great youth robotics is and how special your program is. You are encouraged to promote all the STEM activities in which your robotics program participates (VRC, BEST, Botball, FIRST, TSA, PLTW, SKILLS USA, SKILLS Canada, underwater robotics, workshops, camps, math competitions, bridge building, solar-powered cars, etc.)

Game Design Animation Create an animated video that shows and explains a new VEX Robotics Competition game.
