THINGS THAT FALL APART By: Chinua Achebe

Plot There is a man named Okonkwo, who is a well respected warrior of the Umuofia tribe. He tries his hardest to not be like his father, because he was a failure. He gained his fame through a legendary wrestling match. He had multiple wives and looks down on his son Nwoye. He adopts another kid named Ikemefuna, who eventually is killed due to his tribe deciding he needed to. During the funeral, Okonkwo accidentally shoots a kinsmen, and is exiled for seven years. While there, missionaries come and take over his village, and his son converts to Christianity. Okonkwo learns this, and wants to fight the missionaries and the leader, Mr. Brown. Although nobody wants to, and Okonkwo decides to hang himself because he had lost hope.

Okonkwo We would cast Wesley Snipes as Okonkwo. The award he would receive is the Abusive award, because he tried so hard to be the best father he could and beating them was the right way to discipline his family.

Obierika We would cast Will Smith as Obierika. The award he would receive would be the Loyalty Award because he was such a kind and respectable friend to Okonkwo.

Nwoyes We would cast Jayden Smith as Nwoyes. The award he would receive would be the Trader Award because he joined the missionaries and his father.

Ezinma We would cast Willow Smith as Ezima. The award she would receive is the Spirit Award because she was brave and was always willing to do what she needed to do.

Ikemefuna We would cast Denzel Washington as Ikemefuna. The award he would receive is the Role Model Award because Nwoye looked up to him.

Mr. Brown (missionary) We would cast Josh Duhamel as Mr. Brown. The award he would receive is the Meany Award because he came to Umuofia and tried to take control of the whole village.

Author Study Born November 16, 1930 in Ogidi near Eastern Nigeria. Him and his family belonged to the Igbo tribe, also was the fifth of sixth children. Family Converted to Christianity due to British government rule. Achieved his degree from the University college Ibadan, Nigeria in Served as an ambassador for Biafra to discuss the slaughter and starvation of children in the Igbo tribe. Literature works: Anthills of the Savanna (1987), No Longer at Ease (1960), and Arrow of God (1964).
