Wisdom Wisdom vs. Foolishness

The ability to apply truth to any life situation. Wisdom Seeing and responding to life situations from a perspective that transcends my current circumstances. The ability to apply truth to any life situation.

People wise enough to give advice are also wise enough not to. A wise man learns by the experience of others. An ordinary man learns by his own experience. A fool learns by nobody’s experience. People wise enough to give advice are also wise enough not to. Wisdom is not only knowing what to say or do, but also when to say or do it.

A mind filled with wisdom has no room for conceit. The greatest way to get wisdom is to never pass up the opportunity to keep your mouth closed, and your ears open. When an argument flares up, it is the wise man that puts out the fire with silence and humility. A mind filled with wisdom has no room for conceit.

A wise person will look at the circumstance and situation and bring it all together for the good. A water bearer in India had two large pots, hung on each end of the pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of a long walk from the stream to his masters house. The cracked pot arrived with only half of the water. For a full two years this went on every day as the man would fill the pots to take to his master. The perfect pot was so proud of his accomplishments as he never leaked a drop. But the poor cracked pot felt bad and ashamed of his imperfection only bringing back half of what was put into him for the master. After these two years, he felt like a failure. He spoke to the pot bearer, “I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.” “Why?” asked the bearer. “What are you ashamed of?” “I have been able to only give the master half of that which he sent for, and you have had to carry me all that way while I was leaking and losing all that water.”

The water bearer felt badly for the pot and said, “After we get water, I want to show you something on the way home.” While they were returning from getting water, the pot noticed all the beautiful flowers on the side of the road. The sunshine was on them, and they were in beautiful bloom and cheered up the path to their master. When they were almost home, the pot again apologized to the bearer for his leaking. The bearer then spoke. ”Did you notice all of those flowers on the side of the trail on the way here?” “Yes,” the pot said. “Did you notice that there are only flowers on one side of the trail, and that that side of the trail is your side? I planted seeds there because I knew that they would get watered by you on the way home. Now every day we enjoy the flowers and I pick them for the master and he enjoys them also. It is because of who you are that we can enjoy this trip, and because of who you are that the Master can enjoy these flowers in his house.” The pot just smiled. Wisdom is knowing that there are some cracked pots out there, and yet fitting them into a purpose for the good of all.

The courage to do something must be matched with the wisdom of knowing what to do. If we don’t know what to do, then it is wisdom that tells us to seek counsel.

Knowledge becomes wisdom only after it is put to practical use, and it works. Wisdom sometimes is long coming. For instance: The person that knows more than his boss should be very careful to tell him. Wisdom is also knowing that this person has had many bosses.

A foolish person is not able to be wise A foolish person is not able to be wise. They miss a lot of understanding. Fool’s test: I have a man that I could never trust. Why, he cheats so much I’m not sure this baby I’m carrying is his. Who is the fool? Do you see through this?

Wisdom comes by putting things together, and knowing it will work. Knowledge comes from taking things apart, seeing how things work together. Wisdom comes by putting things together, and knowing it will work. Knowledge properly applied: Not only knowing the fact, but knowing what to do with it.

Wise people don’t say a whole lot, but they sure do say a lot. The difference between wisdom and foolishness: Wise men always know more than they tell, but fools always tell more than they know. Wise people don’t say a whole lot, but they sure do say a lot.

What will you do about it? It is frightening to consider how little wisdom governs the world. What will you do about it?

W-Waste no words when speaking. I-Investigate the matter before getting involved. Get knowledge. S-Spend time being quiet. D-Don’t listen to fools, or take advice from people with no integrity. O-Open minded. Be willing to learn. M-Manage the knowledge that you have. Use what you have wisely.

Do you think that with wisdom, you could have changed this circumstance? “She was a smart girl,” said Stan, referring to his stepdaughter, Andrea. “She got good grades, too,” Andrea’s mother, Lisa, added, “until the seventh grade.” Andrea grew up in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, a town of thirty-seven thousand on the southern shore of lake Winnebago. “At first,” Lisa said, “she started skipping school with friends. They weren’t bad kids, most of them didn’t even smoke.” Soon, however, Andrea started sneaking out of the house at night to hang out at her friend’s home, staying up late, talking, and listening to music. “We tried everything,” Andrea’s mother said, “but nothing worked.”

Finally, her mother and stepfather decided they were unable to control Andrea, and concerned about her influence on her younger brother and two sisters, they allowed the authorities to place her in a foster home. Andrea ran away from the foster home but was soon caught and placed in a group home, where she met another runaway named Melissa. Andrea and Melissa became fast friends. Two months after Andrea’s arrival at the group home, she and Melissa cut a hole in their bedroom screen, crawled out, and crept to the quiet country road that ran by the group home. By the time their absence was discovered, Andrea and Melissa had hitched a ride to Milwaukee.

Melissa left soon after their arrival, but Andrea stayed on Melissa left soon after their arrival, but Andrea stayed on. Her pretty face and figure made her the center of attention among the men – many of them two or three times her age – who played cards, drank beer, and smoked pot in the rooms and hallways of the complex. On September 12, 1995, however, Andrea’s mom and step dad received a call. Andrea had been found dead in a pool of blood on the floor of apartment 113. She had been shot in the head at close range by a nineteen year old boy who was high at the time of the shooting. Andrea was fourteen when she died! What is the one main thing that you would do to change this, using wisdom?
