Nehemiah

 Like physical food, spiritual food needs chewing. Sometimes in our devotional reading we treat God’s word like an express buffet. We wolf it down as fast as we can and wonder why we haven’t learned very much.  We may have the tendency to speed-read through the passages we’ve read many times before. But in doing so, we miss what God is meaning to show us. One sure sign of this is when we learn nothing new from that passage.  David’s desire was right when he wrote in Psalm 119:15): “I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your way.” That’s the way to treat God’s Word---to take time to mull it over

 Three separate groups of Jews returned from Babylon and Persia to Jerusalem with a specific task for each to accomplish.  1 st group under Zerubbabel (525 B.C.) to rebuild the Temple.  2 nd group under Ezra the priest (458 B.C.). Ezra’s task was to rebuild people spiritually.  3 rd group under Nehemiah (444B.C.) to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem.

1. The reconstruction of the wall (1-7) 2. The restoration of the People (8-13) Therefore Nehemiah as a Governor brings physical and political reconstruction and leads the people to moral reform.

 Learn to experience the power of quick short prayers in time of need.  Humility and politeness are virtues that can open doors.  Be well-organized.  As a servant, expect the devil to be disturbed by the fact that you seek the well-being of those you serve.

 Before starting a project, perform careful assessment without a lot of noise.  Encourage others by telling them about how God supported you in your afflictions.  Decisions should be followed by actions.  God will help provided you do your part even though it might be a small one.
