Purposes of PaCT 1.To support teachers to make reliable and consistent judgments in relation to the National Standards 1.To show a student’s progress over time

Aspects for Writing 1.Writing meaningful text: encoding 2.Writing meaningful text: using knowledge of text features 3.Writing meaningful text: vocabulary knowledge 4.Using writing to clarify and develop ideas and information for learning 5.Creating texts to communicate knowledge and understanding 6.Creating texts for literary purposes 7.Creating texts to influence others

Aspects for Reading  1. Making sense of text: using a processing system 2. Making sense of text: using knowledge of text structure 3. Making sense of text: vocabulary knowledge 4. Making sense of text: reading critically 5. Reading to organise ideas and information for learning 6. Acquiring and using information and ideas in informational texts 7. Reading for literary experience

Development Timeframe 2013  Term trialling of reading and writing (80 schools)  Term 1 – website trial  Term – Reading and writing workshop trials  Term national trial for mathematics commences (minimum 200 teachers)  Term national trial for reading and writing commences (minimum 400 teachers) January 2014  PaCT available for all schools Professional Development
