Ranks The realities of Policing and gives you an idea of what it is like policing in the UK. Why the police look for confident and tough people.

Research into Police Ranks Research into the Ranks of the Police. Take some time and find out the different ranks within the police force. Put them in order like we did with the army ranks. Also we need to add pictures of the rank structures.

Police Ranks Constable: Starting rank within the police and do much of the policing duties. Sergeant: Looks after all the constables and manages them during a shift. Inspector: Would manage the investigations such as murder. Chief Inspector: Manages a whole unit such as drugs/firearms. Chief Superintendant: Manages a force area like Leeds or York. Detective: It is less of a rank and more of a skill. A person would take exams and would investigate serious crimes like murder and organised crime.

Murder Investigation At 2:00am on Thursday 26 th June 2013, you were called to a suspicious death of a man at his home. His name was William Fish, a 30 year old man. He was found with bruising around his body and it appears from the post-mortem report carried out on his body, that he may have been beaten before he was murder. His wife was the one that found him after she returned from a night out. There was no sign of a break in to the house but lots of damage to the inside of the house and the body was found in the living room. He had been in debt with a local gangster. There is also unconfirmed reports that William may have hit his wife or hurt her at some point in the past. Who would you need to investigate first? What do you need to investigate? What would you need to find out about this man? Any ideas in regards to cause of death or suspicious reason.

Who did it? What caused the bruises? Is his wife involved? Who else do you suspect of the crime? Is it a suspicious death?

Outcome The post-mortem found that the man was not killed in murder. In the case of William Fish the post- mortem found that he was home alone and decided to drink as much as possible. He then got upset about his wife cheating on him and started to break things around his house. He then walked up to bed, tripped and fell down the stairs, bruising himself and cutting his head. He crawled into the living room and died of a hit to the head.

Roles and Responsibilities of Police and Army The Police and armed forces have different responsibilities when it comes to operations. Armed Forces responsibilities are to: Protect the UK mainland from potential military threats. Protect UK citizens abroad who may be at risk. Protect British Assets overseas from threats. Provide emergency aid and rescue assistance both in the UK and abroad. Fight Terrorism around the world.
