Basic Info  A guitar is a wooden instrument that has a fretted neck and usually has 6 strings.  Some Guitars have four, seven, eight, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and eighteen strings.  Acoustic guitars are mostly made of maple of wood and are hollow so the sound the strings make resonate throughout the body. Most electric guitars are not hollow bodies and they need to be played through an amplifier to be heard well.

Basic Info Continued  The guitar is used by many rock, country, and pop artists.  The guitar’s sound can be manipulated into many different sounds by using electronic effects.

History of the Guitar  Guitars and similar styled instruments have been being played for 4,000 years.  The first classical guitar originated in Spain.  The modern guitar came from the Romans and for centuries has seen great improvements into what it is today.
