Free Ice Cream Day
The Free Ice Cream day group. Matthew Neville & Keyla Rivera CIS 1020 Section 45 Spring 2011
For President Bioteau Salt Lake City Community College
Problems that plague the school Low attendance Poor morale Low retention rate Low school spirit
We propose that the school hold a free ice cream day the day after the last date to drop classes every semester to reward the students performance the previous semester.
How having a free ice cream day can help Promote good attendance Increase Enrollment Improve Loyalty Build camaraderie
With all good things a free ice cream day would not be free Estimated start up costs for a free ice cream day
Quarterly costs Apart from the start up cost there would be a quarterly cost to maintain the club each season. Spring 2009Fall 2009 Cones $ 325Cones $ 340 Ice Cream Mix $ 780Ice Cream Mix $ 900 Spoons $ 70Spoons $ 100 Napkins $ 120Napkins $ 140 Total $ 1,295Total $ 1,480 Summer 2009Winter 2009 Cones $ 350Cones $ 225 Ice Cream Mix $ 1,000Ice Cream Mix $ 700 Spoons $ 70Spoons $ 50 Napkins $ 150Napkins $ 100 Total $ 1,570Total $ 1,075 Yearly Total $ 5,420
Estimated financial benefits of holding a free ice cream day. Assuming that the total population of the student body is 10,000 and that half of that population do well enough to qualify for free ice cream, and half of those students attend SLCC the following semester as a result of the Free Ice cream day, then instituting a free ice cream day increases attendance by 2,500 students. If even a quarter of them attend school full time than the free ice cream day made the school nearly 12,500 dollars, more than twice the yearly cost of the free ice cream day.
Thank you for taking your time from the Ice Cream Day group. Thank you president Bioteau
