John Steinbeck In 1943 he served as a World War ll war correspondent. In March 1943 he divorced his wife Carol and Married Gwyn Conger. In 1967 he went to Vietnam to report on the war.

History of Salinas Means “ Salt Marsh” It was founded in 1822 after Mexico seceded form Spain and began granting rancho lands. The land was first occupied by the Esselen Indian. Between 200 and 500 AD the land was taken by the Runsen who knew Spanish speaking people. In 1850 California offical became a state.
