TODAY IN GEOMETRY…  Review for CH. 4 QUIZ  CH. 4 QUIZ – TODAY!  Learning Goal: 4.3 You will use the side lengths to prove triangles are congruent.  Independent practice

REVIEW: Ways to classify triangles by SIDES: Scalene – no congruent sides Isosceles – 2 congruent sides Equilateral – All congruent sides Ways to classify triangles by ANGLES: Acute – All angles less than 90 degrees Right – One angle is 90 degrees Obtuse – One angle is greater than 90 degrees Equiangular – All angles are congruent

1 23 <1 + <2 + <3 = <1 + <2 = <4 Triangle Sum Theorem Exterior Angle Theorem

REVIEW: Find the value of x. Then classify the triangle by its angles.

CHAPTER 4 QUIZ  You have the rest of class to complete your quiz  Are you prepared? Pencil? Calculator?  Yellow notes allowed  If you finish early:  Finish any missing assignments.  Work on something quietly as the rest of your fellow classmates complete their quizzes.  NO TALKING. STAY IN YOUR SEATS.  RETURN ANY BORROWED BOOKS AND CALCULATORS.  Turn in any missing or corrected assignments.

SSS (side, side, side) Postulate: If three sides of one triangle is congruent to three sides of a second triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.

PRACTICE: Decide whether the congruence statement is true. EXPLAIN your reasoning.

EXAMPLE: Find the distances of each segment.

*Both triangles are congruent if all sides are congruent. SO…prove all sides are congruent!
