TK vs. Kinder

Reggio Emilia Inspired Learning

The Reggio Emilia Philosophy and Approach The Reggio Emilia philosophy and approach to early childhood education has developed and evolved as a result of over 40 years of experience within a system of municipal schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Parents, who started the schools in the 1940s, continue to participate to ensure the schools reflect the values of the community.

The image of the child... Children have preparedness, potential, curiosity; interest in relationships, in constructing their own learning, and in negotiating with everything the environment brings to them.

This is our mini atelier where childr en are using a new medium, bean s and herbs, to create their self por trait. Children look into the mirrors to se e the details on their face. When looking in the mirror, the girl noticed that she has white and blu e eyes and was going to create th at using the white beans and mark er. Miss Klein’s Class Orangethorpe Elementary

Mrs. Taylor’s Class Fern Drive Elementary The TK students are using shapes on the light table to explore and create a drago n. Later they will draw their shape dragon and write stories.

Mrs. Schaller’s Class Sunset Lane Elementary Students were invited to explore fall materials using their senses of touch, sight and smell. Students were supplied with sharpies and watercolors to depict their own version of what fall loo ks like.
