A&S Meeting September 26, 2014 Welcome! Thank you for being here! Today we CELEBRATE ELEVATED outcomes for our students!

A&S Meeting Focus Areas A&S Focus SY A&S provides opportunities for us to grow professionally and to become stronger leaders. Throughout the year, focus will be placed on School Performance Planning (SPP), Professional Growth Systems (PGS), the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF), and Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS). Additionally, many options will be available in the form of breakout sessions that are aligned with our central areas of focus. Below is a breakdown of the focal areas and aligned options, and expectations regarding what administrators should know and be able to do by the end of the year as a result of the professional learning opportunities. School Performance Plans MTSS Balanced Assessment Family Engagement Special Populations Equity Every WCSD site-based administrator should be able to develop and implement a SPP that leads to continuous school improvement. These plans are living documents that must be monitored and evaluated on a regular basis in order to support student achievement. Therefore, site-based administrators will be able to: Lead a school team in the analysis & interpretation of school data Analyze growth data & develop effective strategies to decrease the achievement gap Understand how to develop school improvement goals Implement effective family engagement strategies Embed culturally responsive practices into SPP action steps Learn strategies for monitoring action steps Analyze and evaluate the school’s approach to MTSS to ensure SPP alignment Regularly monitor data related to MTSS (close achievement gaps) Collaborate with peers Timeline Ongoing -Strong emphasis Sept/Oct -January for review & revision -May for review & revision Professional Growth System FAP/PAR Every WCSD site-based administrator should be able to effectively use the PGS to support and improve instruction at each school. Therefore, site-based administrators will be able to: Effectively observe, analyze and provide feedback to teachers Write defensible evaluations using the “Claims, Evidence, Impact, Judgment” format Use the MyPGS platform in an efficient and effective manner Collaborate with peers, Consulting Teachers, and the PAR Coordinator to support teachers Timeline Ongoing

Celebrations of Our Elementary and Middle Schools

English Language Learners who exit ELL prior to high school graduate at or near the district rate each year. And nearly three of every four do exit by grade 8. Nearly one-third of our Kindergarten students are designated as ELL – And they’ll go to HS knowing two languages (at least). Thank You, Elementary and Middle Schools!

Kindergarten DRA: Up 10 Percentage points district wide WCSD Elementary Schools outperform the state on every NSPF indicator

Thank You, Elementary and Middle Schools! - Taking it for the team in CRTs for years - Still, more 4 and 5 star classifications than 3 stars. And zero below three - The beautiful urgency of Principals - Climate and Student Engagement - Intense appetite for SEL training Middle Schools
