Ecology of Colombia The Columbus School Science 7.2 By: Emilio Pelaez Correa and Tomas Echeverri Galeano

INTRODUCTION In this Field Guide we are going to tell you about the environment of the park of Emilio´s house. We are going to show you a couple of the bird species, kinds of trees, etc that live in the park´s environment.

HABITAT The temperature of the park is 82 Fahrenheit and 28 Celsius. This is a place were allot of different type of spices live.

TORTOLA The Tortola is a really common bird in the park´s environment. It comes from the family of Colúmbidos. There are 38 different types of Tortolas in Colombia. The one in our environment is call: Torcaza Nagüiblanca. It ´s brown and is the smallest Torcaza in Colombia.

PETIRROJO There are a couple of Petirrojos or in English Robins in the park environment. It comes from the family of Turdidae.

ALCARAVANA There are some alcaravans in the park´s environment. Also known as Lapwing. It comes from the family of Charadriidae. Its scientific name is Vanellus chilensis.

EUCALYPTUS TREE There are some Eucalyptus trees in the park. There family is Myrtaceae and the subfamily called Myrtoideae. This families contain 700 hundred types of different Eucalyptus trees.

PINE TREE There are many Pine trees in the park´s environment. There family is Pinaceae. This family contains different types of pines. Its scientific name is Pinus.

CARNIVORE There are some Carnivore plants in the parks enviorment.

MAMAL Red tail squirrel, this type of squirrel belongs to a family of rodents. These squirrels are found in the dense forests and have an orange colored tail. They are more smaller than the other common squirrels we usually find in cities. The total length of both sexes is cm with a tail length of cm.

Grasshopper This type of grasshopper camouflages with the lives of the trees and the grass. The grasshopper lives in the woods. With camouflage he has he can protect from the predators that want to eat him. Some of this grasshoppers have a form of live.

Beetle The beetle is found in places that has allot of nature in it. The beetle passes almost all his live in the ground. This spices lives all over Colombia.
