No child should ever be a victim of abuse or neglect.

The San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center prevents child abuse and minimizes its devastating impact. OUR PURPOSE:

THE COST OF CHILD ABUSE NATIONALLY IS HUGE Total lifetime cost of one year of confirmed cases of child maltreatment $124B Cost breakdown per 10,000 children: Childhood healthcare costs: $18.9B Adult healthcare costs: $6.1B Productivity losses: $85.7B Childhood welfare costs: $4.4B Criminal justice costs: $3.9B Special education costs: $4.6B

Yet in San Francisco we have… reports of child abuse each year children exposed to violence each year and countless more go undetected. 10,000 6,000

A COLLABORATIVE AND INNOVATIVE CAC Best-practice forensic interview with team of experts Onsite access to pediatric care Referral and access to network of providers for additional services Mental-health screening 3-5 intensive mental-health sessions A safe place for children who are physically or sexually abused to tell their story one time, provide support and counsel to children and their families during the investigative process, and start them on a path of healing.

Of those 6,000 children… We won’t just reach 50 children… We won’t just reach 300 children… We will reach all 1000 children whose cases have been substantiated. A CHILD’S FUTURE EXPERIENCE: THE CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER
