What Was His Early Life Like? Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was born in Salamanca, Spain in 1510. His mother’s name was Isabel de Lujan and his father’s name was Juan Vasquez Coronado. He was 25 when he sailed to New Spain which is now called Mexico. He became the Governor of Nueva Galicia.

What Was His Life’s Work? AW! What Was His Life’s Work? He heard about the seven cities of gold in New Spain. He set out in 1540 with 300 soldiers and over 1000 Indians. When he got there he searched and searched for two years. But all that work did not pay off he did not find any gold.

How Did He Die? Francisco Vasquez de Coronado died in 1554 in Spain. He died because his health badly deteriorated from injuries and the toll of his strenuous journeys.

Was His exploration Famous? Yes, his exploration was famous. If it wasn't for the journey the Grand Canyon may have never been found. He was the first to see Buffalo on the Great Plains.

What Do People Think About His Leading Of Explorations? Some people say he managed the trip to the seven cities of gold poorly and treated the Indians terrible. Also people say he led one of the greatest European expedition.
