Presentation transcript:

--- Church Planting Principles to Keep in Mind Church planters should design the ministry so as to encourage localized leadership from the start. Church planters should visualize chains of churches and cultivate a huge geographical vision. Church planters should, as best possible, disciple mature men first, requiring that they disciple other mature men. These men will form the spiritual foundation of the church. Church planters should concentrate on one or two men per community, having them disciple men in the new church. Overall, local men are encouraged to study with their wives and other men.

--- The church planter should give practical ministry assignments, thus providing stepping-stone tests to distinguish those with leadership potential. Church planters should restrict the use of foreign funds. Ideally, all aspects of on-the-field ministry should be imitatable by the leaders-in-training. Church planters should do that which enhances local church autonomy and self-support. As churches start, form an association (if one is not already in place) led by nationals. Work behind the scenes with it, letting locals process decisions, funds, victories and problems.

Mark 6:6-8, 31 And he was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. These were his (simple) instructions: "Take nothing for the journey except a staff-- no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

 Sustainable Church Multiplication  To start chains of churches… Remember the basics. Pray out more workers. SHARE authority with apprentices. Commission & send out new workers. Provide clear instructions to apprentice workers. Use only imitable methods. Let workers start flocks (in houses of worthy persons) so as to Reach whole families. Encouraging workers to bond with the people & adopt their customs. Remind workers that they may need to sometimes leave those people & places which reject them. Proclaim the original Good News. Listen to workers, as you train them.

Focus on KEY men … 

Food for thought… Can simple house churches reproduce, under the Lordship of Jesus… House to house to house, covering entire cities? Cambodia India Zambia

What do churches look like? The building? O r the Christians within?

--- Training Guidelines (as you train others) Bond with the people and their culture. Proclaim the correct good news. Use stories and the arts to teach with greater effect. Make disciples in a New Testament way. Envision what God will enable his people to do in pioneer fields. Cultivate the fruit of the Spirit. Watch out! Here come wolves!
