Order of the Arrow Troop Representative Training Tonkawa Lodge

What is a Troop Rep? Shortest answer: Communication link between Unit and the Order of the Arrow

Job Requirements of a Troop Rep Attend all Chapter meetings and report back to Unit with information Arrange a Unit Election and Camping Promotion presentation (typically together) Helps the Troop recognize OA members’ advancements in the OA at Court of Honors Ensures Scouts are educated about the Induction process

Attend all Chapter meetings and report back to Unit with information Attends all chapter meetings Attends unit meetings to spread information Bring Lodge and Chapter calendar to PLC so the unit can plan around lodge events Helps members attend as many OA events as possible (offer rides, give information, show the website, etc.)

Arrange a Unit Election and Camping Promotion presentation “Election Season” is Jan. 15 to April 31 If your term includes part of this period, make sure an election is held Unit Election teams are trained to do both the Election and Camp Promotion presentation Makes sure this gets on the Troop and Chapter Calendar at least 2 weeks in advance

Helps the Troop recognize OA members’ advancements in the OA In conjunction with SPL, recognize at Court of Honor: –Inducted members –Brotherhood members –Vigil Inductions –Chapter and Lodge positions held Encourages scouts to move forward in the OA Inspires non-OA members to be interested and know about the opportunities available in the OA

Ensures Scouts are educated about the Induction process Make sure eligible scouts know when tap outs are held at Summer camp and Camporees Make sure Tapped-Out Candidates know when Assemblies are held –When and where it is –What they need to bring –Make sure they got the candidate letter Make sure Brotherhood eligible OA members know when ceremonies are held

Recognition Honor Troop Representative Award

Honor Troop Representative Requirements Complete six Troop Representative Reports, one for each chapter meeting Attend half (rounded up) of the Lodge events during your term Ensure an election is held in your unit, and the election form turned in within two weeks of the election, if your term includes part or all of election season Work with the SPL to ensure the Troop recognize OA members’ advancements

What do you get? A fancy patch Recognition at Banquet Certificate saying you are a good person and that you have done great things for your Lodge, Chapter, and Unit
