HOLY THURSDAY / LAST SUPPER GRP 3 6F TIMOTHY TANRAMON RILLO GILBERT DEE NICHOLAS CHUA MATTHEW TAN TIMOTHY POW

Meaning  Holy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday.  This reminds us when Jesus shared his Last Supper and washed the feet of the apostles.  We celebrate Jesus’ call to serve others and his gift of the Eucharist

 Jesus washes the feet of his apostles as a symbol of love and service  The priest celebrant washes the feet of some members of the church in remembrance of what Jesus did to symbolize love and service.

Important events 1.Before feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. 2.Judas was going to hand him over 3.During supper, he rose and took off his outer garments, he took a towel and tied it to his waist and went to Simon Peter 4.Jesus washed all the apostles’ feet and put his garments back on

Why are we celebrating the event?  This is the time when Jesus ate a final meal together with the men who had followed him for so long.  We also remember when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet to illustrate humility and the spirit of servant hood.

Filipino Practices  Mass of the Last Supper  Blessed Sacrament is enshrined in an altar of repose or monumento  Visita iglesia  Chanting of the pabasa

How can we celebrate it more meaningfully? 1.We can say a prayer first 2.We can read some bible verses 3.Make personal sacrifices 4.We look back at our lives and think about how we can change ourselves for the better. It is a time for thinking about whether we have loved and served others, especially the poor and the suffering
