ACT Budget Snapshot

ACTCOSS acknowledges Canberra has been built on the land of the Ngunnawal people. We pay respects to their Elders and recognise the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and ongoing contribution to the ACT community, especially the Community Sector.

ACTCOSS advocates for a united Australia which respects this land of ours, values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and provides justice and equity for all

Key Economic Indicators Strength of employment 0.25 per cent growth = harder to get and keep a job Changes in costs of living 2.25 per cent inflation = income support and low wage jobs don’t keep up Sustainability of revenue to government Tax reform = increased revenue certainty Public sector contracting = reduced confidence and activity

Priorities for Investment Schools, primary care, family support and health and disability care Prevention and early intervention to reduce demand for crisis, acute and tertiary services Better outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable from universal services Responding to rapidly changing environment Better use of data

ACTCOSS Budget Snapshot Overview Attention to ACTCOSS budget asks Highlights and concerns Summary of measures relevant to ACTCOSS members
