 Female Bullfrogs deposit many thousands of eggs in large masses. The tadpoles require at least six months to transform into frogs. In many areas, they spend the winter as tadpoles and do not transform until their second year.

 Tiny eggs are laid by the female on a leaf. The caterpillar is the primary eating and growth stage of the insect. The pupa or chrysalis is the resting or transformation stage, within it the transformation from caterpillar to adult takes place. The adult emerges from the chrysalis.

 Snapping turtles only live in fresh or salty water. They prefer water bodies with muddy bottoms and a lot of plants because hiding is easier. The snapping turtle normally has a shell length ranging from ½ inches. A snapping turtle kept at a zoo lived to be almost 39 years old. In the wild they live up to 30 years.

 The red-eared slider is a freshwater turtle with a unique red stripe behind the eyes, which fades as the turtle ages. The turtles have many thin stripes on the shell, and males have very long, thin claws. Like all different turtles, the red- eared slider retracts its head straight back into the shell. Red-eared slider turtles grow to around 30 cm. in length. The turtles live for about 40 years.

 The dragonfly is a seen a lot around ponds in the warmer months. This is an adult dragonfly. They eat mosquitoes and are eaten by a different birds, amphibians, spiders, other insects and even bats.

 Mayfly adults are soft looking insects with see-threw wings. Mayflies are seen most often when they look for mating or come to lights at night. Adults generally do not eat, and live for only a few days.

 The water scorpion is found in ponds and other still waters. They can be found hanging on surface. They eat insect larvae. Unseen in this picture are their two long filaments that look like a tail that might sting, but they are actually tubes that they breathe through, like a snorkel tube.

 Water boatmen are the most seen of the wetland bugs. They are seen oin the bottom of ponds. They dive underwater air covering their body, so they can breathe. This enables them to stay underwater for a long period of time. They can also fly.

 The largest of the water insects is the giant water bug, which can reach a size of close to 3 inches (7.5 cm) in length and is brown. They are oval in shape, with wide, flat bodies. Before diving in the water, the giant water bug captures a bubble of air which it takes underwater and uses for breathing. Once the bubble is used up, the bug needs to rise again to the surface to get more air.. They have a strong bite.

 Snails belong to the group of animals called mollusks, which also includes clams and mussels. Mollusks have soft bodies, often in a hard shell. Snails have a "foot" on the underside that helps them to move around. The snails use the calcium to build their shells.

 Leeches are a member of the worms group, a group which also includes earthworms. They are good swimmers and usually occur in bottom areas of warm shallow water. They are nocturnal and seek dark areas during the daylight.

The Black Swan is a vegetarian. They eat Food like algae and weeds, which they obtain by putting its long neck into water up to 1 m deep. Occasionally birds will walk on land, but they are clumsy walkers. The males are a little bigger than females. They aren’t fully black till there are adults. When there younger their grayish.

 There are three different types of algae, Green, Brown and Red. You can mostly find Green algae in pond areas. There are about 6,000- 8,000 species in this division of algae. They tend to grow on trees or moist areas. Most of these algae can be found on shore around rock of some sort

 Common Reeds grow in marshes, or along the edges of ponds, lakes, and streams. They can grow in shallow water, or in dry places. This grass often forms thick stands. A stand is an area where one species of plant takes over so there is hardly any room for other plants.

 A pond without water plant is unthinkable for any normal garden pond designed to add beauty and value. Water plants can only help the overall health of a fish pond. There are many different types of water plants for example water lilies and Oxygenators.
