Accelerated loading test in Danish Asphalt Rut Tester Erik Nielsen Danish Road Institute

DART Danish Asphalt Rut Tester is a full scale loading equipment capable of performing permanent deformation studies on bituminous bound pavement structures at a speed up till 5 km/h. The pavement slabs can be 1200 x 1500 mm in dimension and up till 250 mm in height. The temperature can be controlled both at the top and the bottom of the slab, so stable gradient through the slab can be established to resemble the real conditions in the road.

DART 6 asphalt slabs have been retrieved from a Danish test pavement at Svogerslev.

DART 2 asphalt slabs have been retrieved from a test pavement at EPFL-LAVOC, Lausanne, Schweiz.

DART The eight slabs will be divided in four sets a two slabs and the following experiments and associated conditions will be performed Danish standard conditions Temperature gradient 40 -> 20 C Super single tyre, 50 KN Danish test pavement “EPFL-LAVOC” conditions No temperature gradient 40 -> 40 C Dual wheel, 45 KN Danish test pavement “EPFL-LAVOC” conditions Temperature gradient 40 -> 20 C Dual wheel, 45 KN Danish test pavement “EPFL-LAVOC” conditions No temperature gradient 40 -> 40 C Dual wheel, 45 KN EPFL-LAVOC pavement
