Family Literacy Night

Why revise? Align with Common Core State Standards Reflect the current Reading and Writing Workshop philosophy as well as the Mathematics Common Core Standards Clarity and continuity (K-2 & 3-4) Teacher, administrator and parent feedback The report cards will be revisited annually, especially as we update the curriculum for science and social studies over the next several years.

Subcommittee consisted of two elementary principals, two supervisors, three teachers and two parents Elementary specialists were asked for their feedback/input The report card drafts were shared with elementary teachers at grade level meetings by elementary principals

 The report cards are similar from Kindergarten through Grade 4  The teachers score the instructional parts 1, 2, 3, 4, or * (not taught yet)  The social development and learning habits are scored A (attained), P (progressing), or N (needs improvement)  A Fountas & Pinnell scale (independent reading scale) is included  Teacher comments are included during the second and fourth marking periods (conferences are held after the first and third marking periods).

To access the parent portal you can use your web browser to navigate to or you can bookmark the site directly at If after trying these steps you are still experiencing difficulty, please Report cards can be accessed on November 17 th for children in grades 1-4 at 3:00 PM through our Verona School Parent Portal. Kindergarten report cards are not issued this marking period but will be posted on the Portal in February. You can access your child’s report cards through the Parent Portal using the same password as last year. Please note that if you are new to the school or a kindergarten parent you will need to access the account that was created for you. In September, you should have received an with a username and password. The username is the address that was provided to the school with your child’s contact information. If you did not receive the with the password, there is a “Forgot Password” link on the Parent Portal homepage. Click on “Forgot Password” and use the address as a username. You will receive an with a temporary password.
