ICEL Christ, by highest heaven adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord, late in time behold him come, offspring of the Virgin's womb: veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th'incarnate Deity, pleased with us in flesh to dwell, Jesus, our Immanuel. ICEL Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, risen with healing in his wings. Mild he lays his glory by, born that we no more may die, born to raise us from the earth, born to give us second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King"

ICEL WHAT CHILD IS THIS WHAT CHILD IS THIS, who, laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ, the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary!

ICEL Why lies He in such mean estate, Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christian, fear: for sinners here The silent Word is pleading. Nail, spear shall pierce him through, The Cross be borne for me, for you; Hail! Hail the Word made flesh, The Babe, the Son of Mary!

ICEL So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh, Come, peasant, king to own Him. The King of kings salvation brings; Let loving hearts enthrone Him. Raise, raise the song on high, The Virgin sings her lullaby. Joy! Joy! For Christ is born, The Babe, the Son of Mary.

ICEL SEE, AMID THE WINTER’S SNOW SEE, AMID THE WINTER’S SNOW, Born for us on earth below, See, the gentle Lamb appears, Promised from eternal years. Lo! Within a manger lies He who built the starry skies, He who, throned in height sublime, Sits amid the Cherubim.

ICEL Say, you holy shepherds, say, What your joyful news today. Wherefore have you left your sheep On the lonely mountain steep? "As we watched at dead of night, Lo! We saw a wondrous light; Angels singing 'Peace on earth' Told us of the Savior's birth."

ICEL ISAIAH 11:1; 35:1-2 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 35:1-2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

ICEL Isaiah 'twas foretold it, The Rose I have in mind: With Mary we behold it, The virgin mother kind. To show God's love aright She bore to men a Savior When half-gone was the night.

ICEL This Flower, whose fragrance tender With sweetness fills the air, Dispels with glorious splendor The darkness everywhere. True man, yet very God, From sin and death He saves us And lightens every load

And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a king was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. ICEL [Ladies] This star drew nigh to the northwest, O'er Bethlehem it took its rest, And there it did both stop and stay Right over the place where Jesus lay.

ICEL JOY TO THE WORLD JOY TO THE WORLD; the Lord is come; Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare him room, And heav'n and nature sing. (3X)
