The Candy Shop War By: Brandon Mull (Shadow Mountain (2007)) Mary- Elizabeth Whalum

Introduction  Setting: Colson, Present time.  Protagonist: Nate  Antagonist: Mrs. White

Introduction (continued)  Nate just moved to Colson from California.  The kids are about 10 or 11 years old.  Meets some kids on his street, Pigeon, Summer, and Trevor, they become friends.  All of them meet Mrs. White.

Protagonist/ Antagonist  Protagonist: Nate  10 years old, short, Caucasian, blonde hair  Antagonist: Mrs. White  Middle aged woman, white hair, Caucasian, owns a candy shop, makes magic candy

Conflict  Mrs. White is looking for a treasure.  Nate, Pigeon, Summer, Trevor, and Mrs. White are involved.  Nate goes to the past, present, and a possible future in order to try and change the future.

Minor Characters  Pigeon: Nate’s friend that helps him with Mrs. White  Summer: Nate’s friend that helps him with Mrs. White  Trevor: Nate’s friend that helps him with Mrs. White  John Dart: Magician Police that is trying to stop them from getting the treasure, teams up with Nate and his friends.

Critic Reviews  Carma Dutra said that she liked the book and that it will make children’s imagination go up a notch. What I think Abut the Book  I really like this book. I think that it will intrigue the other readers because of all of the action and the suspense on what will happen next in the book. I think that the author does a good job on foreshadowing and the suspense.
