Late sixteenth century, during the wars between Venice and Turkey It is set in Venice in Act I; the island of Cyprus thereafter Protagonist Othello The Central character is Othello. Conflict: Iago gets jealous of Othello and Desdemona's relationship and he believes that he should be lieutenant not Othello. Contains foreshadowing (prediction) Jealously and rage is the inner demon that triumphs over Othello and Iago.
