LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY WELCOME

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY OUR VISION “To be acknowledged for our commitment to student success, our innovation and enterprise, our global reach and strong local impact.”

Leeds Would it be possible to include an image of the map contained within the University profile doc (students overseas generally won’t know where we are based so this would be useful)

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT TEAM Our Vice Chancellor and three Deputy Vice Chancellors are responsible for the strategic direction of the University.

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY OUR STUDENTS 29,000 students in total. Over 3,000 international students from 116 different countries. Over 9,000 part time students. Over 3,000 studying on programmes abroad.

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY OUR CAMPUSES We have two campuses – one in the heart of the city of Leeds and our contrasting 100 acre campus in the suburb of Headingley. Our buildings are award-winning and attract worldwide attention. Broadcasting Place was named the best tall building in the world in 2010 by a council of global architects.

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY HISTORY & HERITAGE The university’s origins can be traced back to 1824, with the founding of the Leeds Mechanics Institute. Leeds Polytechnic was formed in 1970 until it became an independent Higher Education Corporation on 1 April In 1992 the institution was given University status and changed its name to Leeds Metropolitan University.

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY OUR REGION Leeds is the UK’s largest centre for financial and professional services outside London, with more than 30 national and international banks located in the city. The turnover of our university is £171m per annum. Our university’s impact on the economy is worth £350m per annum.

L Would it be possible to include an image of graduation here? I can then include some text overlay detailing the notion of franchise

Student entitlements An image of an international student would be good here…..(again text overlay would describe key entitlements in the context of collab students)

Academic Principles and Regulations What do I need to do to pass? What do I do if I cannot submit a piece of work or sit an exam? Can I appeal a result? What is unfair practice?

Assessment regulations These next few slides need to convey more information and would be better off being predominantly white with the image top right.

Mitigation

Unfair Practice

Student Appeals

Shape your experience Another image of a student would be good here…..and then I can overlay opps to engage
