Inspiration Shopping mall in Milan - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Making meaning of paintings - symbols Broken strings on lute symbolises discord The skull symbolises mortality

The survey MY ONLINE MOSAIC SURVEY 1. What sort of colours do you think of when you think of me? 2. What symbols do you think should represent 'me' on my mosaic? 3. What sort of mosaic do you think I ought to create that would represent 'me'? 4. Where do you think I ought to display my mosaic? 5. What shape do you think my mosaic should be?

Westminster Cathedral: The ceiling of Chapel of the Sacred Heart and Saint Michael, next to the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. d2.shtml

Comnenus mosaics date 1122 seen in the Hagia Sophia (big mosque) in Istanbul purse Virgin Mary Halo Jesus

Barracks Square mosaic representing different regions of Western Australia (2000) From It was made by Artists: Community groups with artists Simon Gevers and Tania Ferrier for the Swan Bell Tower, Barrack Square

And then I made this……

Planning a design Points to consider for exteriors –What is the mosaic for? –Where is it going to be sited? –Do you want to blend it in, or will it be the focus form which all else flows? –Are the colours of the mosaic suitable for its purpose, size and location? –Is the mosaic the right size for its specific purpose: not so small that is is lost, nor so big that it dominates the space?

My design The pot which represents my family and my roots – filled with good soil. The red ribbon represents a gift and ‘ties’ things together for me in celebration.

My design The round bit represents a plant in flower (which is me growing and blooming).

Installation!

Red ribbon of celebration Completed picture Plant pot = my roots and things that nuture me Plant in flower = me in bloom
