 LAUNCHING OF STUDENT’S CHAPTER UNDER AGIES OF M.E.A.I. AHMEDABAD CHAPTER AND SEMINAR ON MINING AT GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE GANDHINAGAR. ON

 ASSESMENT OF LIMESTONE DEPOSIT AND ITS SUITABILITY FOR CEMENT INDUSTRY IN GUJARAT REGION. Seminar On :

  Limestone is a Sedimentary rock Composed Primarily of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO 3 ) in the form of the Mineral calcite. It most Commonly forms in clear, warm, Shallow marine waters.  It is an Organic Sedimentary rock that forms from the Accumulation of shell, coral, algal and fecal debris. It can also be a Chemical Sedimentary rock formed by the Precipitation of Calcium Carbonate from lake or ocean water. What Is Limestone?

  Limestone often Contains Variable Amounts of silica in the form of Chert or Siliceous Skeletal Fragment, and Varying Amounts of clay, silt and sand Carried in by Rivers.  Some Lime stones do not Consist of grains at all, and are Formed Completely by the Chemical Precipitation of calcite or Aragonite, i.e. Travertine.  Secondary calcite may be Deposited by Supersaturated Ground waters (Groundwater that Precipitates the Material in caves). CONTENT OF LIMESTONE

 1) Cement Industry 2) Iron & Steel Industry 3) Chemical Industry 4) Sugar Industry 5) Glass Industry 6) Fertilizers Industry REQUIRMENT OF LIMESTONE IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES

  Gujarat state is richly with the various types of limestone deposits ranging in age from Precambrian age to Pliocene age.  GSI and CGM (Govt. of Gujarat) have Investigated and Assessed the limestone Deposits in the State and large reserves of the limestone have been Indicated by detail work Including Investigation by Drilling Techniques and a total of 90,37,337 Million Tonnes of limestone have been Assessed as Recoverable reserves. Proved category of limestone Reserves 3,71,512, Probable category 1,10,583 and Possible category 73,59,987 Million tonnes of limestone reserves have been Estimated. LIMESTONE RESOURCES IN GUJARAT

 ~ Western Kutch “ NUMMULITIC LIMESTONE DEPOSITS” In Lakh pat, Naliya And Abadasa. ~ Khavada Limestone Deposit (BhujTaluka) ~ Balanivav area ~ Una Area ~ Limestone Deposit in Banaskanatha district ~ Limestone Deposit in Bhavnagar district ~ Limestone Deposit in Bharuch district ~ Limestone Deposit in Jamnagar district Some Specific Area of Limestone Deposits

 ~ Limestone Deposit in Junagadh District ~ Limestone Deposit in Kachchh District ~ Limestone Deposit in Sabarkantha District ~ Limestone Deposit in Surat District

 SR NO. DISTRICT OF GUJRAT MINERAL RESERVE IN TONNES IN (MN.TN.) MINERL RESERVE IN PERCENTAGE 1. KUTCH JUNAGADH AND PORBANDAR BHAVNAGAR KHEDA BANASKANTHA AMRELI DAHOD AND PANCHMAHAL SABARKANTHA SURAT RAJKOT AND SURENDRANAGAR SURAT District Wise Capacity of Limestone Deposits

 Nummulitic Limestone Deposits Of the Western Kutch

 Map of Limestone Deposits of the Kutch District

 There are Mainly Two Methods are Involved :  1) Conventional mining The main activities involved in the Conventional Mining of the Limestone Deposits are: 1. Ground preparation 2. Drilling 3. Blasting 4. Loading, Transport and unloading 5. Crushing 6.Transportation through Belt conveyor. Mining of Limestone

 2) Surface mining : ~ Surface miner performs in site crushing while mining, which cases out the problems encountered in transportation of limestone to crusher. The system needs no separate loading arrangement and the machine loads the material directly to the trucks or dumpers. ~ The need for haul road maintenance is drastically reduced, since the mine surface with the surface miner is very gradual and uniform.

 Raw Material Raw material Preparation Raw Grinding Pyro processing Finish Grinding and Distribution Making of Cement From Limestone?

 ~ AMBUJA CEMENT COMPANY: The Project Plant At The Kodinar In The Junagadh District, And Cement Produce Capacity Is The 5.7 Million Tonnes. ~ SANGHI CEMENT INDUSTRY: Name of Unit: Sanghi Cement Ltd at the sanghipuram in the Kutch district. Plant capacity to produce the cement in annually is the 2.60 million tonnes. ~ JAYPRAKASH ASSOCIATES IN KUTCH DISTRICT : Which has the capacity to produce cement is the 1.20 million tonnes Some Cement Industry in Gujarat Region

 ~ ULTRATECH CEMENT COMPANY(ADITYA BIRLA GROUP): 1) Cement plant in kovaya village, in Rajulu Taluka, The plant has the 5.80 million tonnes capacity to produce cement 2) Second cement plant in the babarkot village Taluka jafrabad.Which has the capacity 0.50 million tonnes. ~ HMP CEMENT IN THE PORBANDAR: And the capacity is to produce the cement is the 0.20 million tonnes.

 ~ SHREE DIGVIJAY CEMENT COMPANY AT SIKKA: Which has the capacity to produce cement is the 1.20 million tonnes. ~ SAURASHTRA CEMENT LIMITED AT RANAVAV in the Junagadh district.: The capacity of the plant to produce the cement is the 1.50 million tonnes. ~ GUJARAT SIDDHI CEMENT LMITED AT VERAVAL, Junagadh district.: Production of the 1.20 million tonnes in one whole year.

 Prepared By : VISHAL BHUVA (Student Representative & nominated Coordinator for Students' Chapter) Guided By : Mr. G.T.Pandya Sir (Deputy Commissioner, Industries and Mines Department, GoG). Thank you…….
