I. Formation of Metamorphic Rocks

a. Metamorphic Rocks Can form from igneous, sedimentary, or other metamorphic rocks The form of the rock and/or the composition of the rock can change

Heat and Pressure Adding heat and pressure can change a rock from it’s parent rock to a new rock. For example: shale to slate to phyllite to schist to gneiss Basalt to schist Granite to gneiss
