Right There Think & SearchAuthor & Me Examples Who is the main character? What room in the house were the children in? Summarize the activities going on in the passage. What was the important information in the paragraph? What job did the main character have to do and explain how you would feel if you had to do the job.

1. What was the job Ashleigh’s mom wanted her to do? 2. How do you think Ashleigh felt about her mother asking her to do this job? Right There Think & SearchAuthor & Me

"Don't eat too many milk duds!" Mom remarked to Ashleigh as she walked through the family room. "And remember to take care of the garbage." Mom was doing errands around the whole house. Ashleigh was in the middle of her favorite program, and with the TV and her little brother nearby being noisy, it was easy to ignore her mom. She just kept watching her show and munching on Milk Duds. 1. What was the job Ashleigh’s mom wanted her to do? Right There Think & SearchAuthor & Me

About an hour later, it was apparent that Ashleigh may have eaten a little TOO many Milk Duds. She felt the symptom of a stomachache coming on and went to lie down on her bed. It seemed like the interior of her stomach was one big glob of milk duds. 3. What kind of a snack had Ashleigh been eating? Right There Think & SearchAuthor & Me

"What are you doing?" her mom asked when she came up from the cellar and passed her bedroom. "I don't feel too good.“ "Did you take care of the garbage?" Great -- it was like mom didn't even hear her. "No, I forgot." Ashleigh struggled up and went to do the chore she detested. By the time she got back in the house, she was feeling pretty rough. And no one seemed to care.

Right There Think & SearchAuthor & Me Explain how YOU feel when… Tell about a time when YOU… If YOU were going to … On My Own

Great -- it was like mom didn't even hear her. "No, I forgot." Ashleigh struggled up and went to do the chore she detested. By the time she got back in the house, she was feeling pretty rough. On My Own 5. Tell about a time when you felt like no one seemed to care that you didn’t feel well.

After a little while, Ashleigh's mom came to hug her and talk to her. "Hi honey. I know you're not feeling well -- it will go away soon. Do you know why I told you not too eat too many Milk Duds? Your body needs good food to nourish it. Sweets should just be a small treat now and then." As they talked, Ashleigh realized that if she'd stopped eating sweets and done her chores, she might be feeling better now. "I'm sorry Mom. I should have listened!" "Well, sweetie, that's true. Here's some medicine to help you regain your strength. I love you." Ashleigh settled back on her bed and thought, "Yes, she really does."
