Why Do Good Christians Sin?

All Have Sinned All sin (1 K. 8:46; Rom. 3:23; 1 Jn. 1:7-10) There are many reasons why people sin But, why do “good” Christians sin? – Good Christians who hold a leadership role like preachers, elders, deacons, and Bible class teachers? – Good Christians who attend every service, read their Bible, and pray regularly?

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may be unknowledgeable Good intentions may be mislead (Acts 8:18-19) But, all can know what God’s will is (Eph. 5:17)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may be influenced by evil companionships Good morals are corrupted (1 Cor. 15:33) But, peer pressure can and must be resisted (Psa. 1:1; Prov. 1:10; 13:20)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may listen to erroneous doctrines and follow after them Good teaching is replaced with error (2 Cor. 11:3-4; 2 Pet. 2:1ff; Jas. 5:19-20) But, false teaching must be identified and rejected (Rom. 16:17-18; 2 Jn. 9-11)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may not sin deliberately, but they may sin unintentionally Good habits are “overtaken in a fault” (Gal. 6:1) But, one must be vigilant at all times for the devil (1 Pet. 5:8)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may appear good on the outside, but have a sinful private life; they act hypocritically Good habits are matched with bad habits (Mt. 23:1ff; Gal. 2:11-14) But, God sees all (Prov. 15:3)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may grow weary and get tired Good foundations erode and “drift away” (Heb. 2:1-3) But, one must press onward (Heb. 12:1-3)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may want to try sin because it is new or something they have been kept from Good people want “liberty” (2 Pet. 2:18-19) But, there is good reason why they have not been allowed thus far (Prov. 6:27-28)

Why Do Good Christians Sin? Good Christians may start loving the wrong things Good affections and one’s “first love” is exchanged for a misplaced love (Rev. 2:4; 1 K. 11:1-2) But, one can return (Rev. 2:5)

“Good” Christians? When “good” Christians sin they are no longer good! Let us remember that the devil does not want a sinner to become a saint (Christian), and he does not want a saint to remain sanctified (without sin)!
