The Seventh Annual Value Behavioral Health Consumer Recovery Forum; RECOVERY, RESILIENCY, WELLNESS; LOCAL RESOURCES, LOCAL SOLUTIONS, held on March 30, 2007 at the Radisson, Monroeville opened with a welcome and introduction of Dr. Mark Fuller, our new Medical Director at Value Behavioral Health. A keynote address, “Knowing Yourself: Relationships and Valued Roles,” by Dr. Guy Caruso, Ph.D. Western Coordinator, Temple University, Institute on Disabilities, Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Gave the 286 Consumers, Advocates, County and Provider staff in attendance much food for thought to begin the beautiful spring morning, accented by the lovely flower centerpieces grown and provided by our friends at the Torrance State Hospital Greenhouse. Along with 20 Exhibitors, providing a wealth of information on many aspects of Recovery, Wellness and Advocacy throughout the day, six afternoon workshops; What’s Available at the Assistance Office, HealthChoices/ACCESS Plus Update, The Many Doors to Consumer Empowerment, Be Empowered: Have a Voice and Determine Your Own Treatment, Talk To The Pharmacist: Answers to Your Medication Questions and Coordinating Your Behavioral and Physical Health Services provided more resources and practical information that both Consumers and Providers can utilize in the journey towards Recovery. As always, the highlight of the day, the Leadership In Recovery Awards did not disappoint with some very surprised winners. If you were unable to be there or would like to be there again, please enjoy the following pictures of the event.
