Mark 7:31-32 Again He went out from the region of Tyre, and came through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, within the region of Decapolis. They brought to Him one who was deaf and spoke with difficulty, and they implored Him to lay His hand on him. Mogilalone = Isaiah 35:6 (LXX)

Mark 7:33-35 Jesus took him aside from the crowd, by himself, and put His fingers into his ears, and after spitting, He touched his tongue with the saliva; and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” And his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was removed, and he began speaking plainly.

Mark 7:36-37 And He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they continued to proclaim it. They were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

1. Jesus’ ability to heal a deaf and mute man indicates that the messianic age has dawned. 2. Jesus’ ability to physically heal is proof that He alone can bring us the ultimate healing we all need. 3. Jesus is an example to us in ministering to the world.

Mark 7:37a They were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well…” Genesis 1:31a God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. Mark 7:37b “He makes even the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.” Isaiah 35:5b-6a the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.

Psalm 30:2 O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. Isaiah 6:10 “Render the hearts of this people insensitive, their ears dull, and their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed.”

Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For You are my praise. Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.

 Reliance Upon the Father in Prayer : Mark 7:34 and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” John 11:41 So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

 Compassion for people Mark 7:34 and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” Colossians 3:12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience…

 Compassion necessitates giving the word! Mark 7:34 and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” Psalm 107:19-20a Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them…
