Part 1- Propaganda and Psychology 2 Kings 18-19, Isaiah 36-37

9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy… I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

In Jerusalem, during the days of the divided kingdom when Hezekiah was king and Isaiah was God’s prophet, the people of God were on the receiving end of some serious psychological warfare: 2 Kings 18:17-37, Isaiah 36-37

1. A Look At The Strategy Use words to destroy the faith of God’s people (Isaiah 36:4ff) The strategic manner he delivered his messages: The messengers and Isaiah began to be filled with despair and fear (Isaiah 36:21-22, 37:1-3) Hezekiah came through and delivered with faith and trust in Jehovah! God delivered! (Isaiah 37:36-38)

2. Accept Tough Realities The reality and its fierce nature of the war (2 Cor. 10:4-5) The voices that work to discourage & distract us

“So I just did my first interview for the local news. Channel 12 Beaumont came to the building to ask my thoughts on the first ever gay pride festival coming to Beaumont in June. I was nervous about the interview. But knowing the soundbites on tonight's 10pm news will be very short, I think I'm more worried about what words, and in what order, will be chosen to air...”

2. Accept Realities The reality and its fierce nature of the war (2 Cor. 10:4-5) Ignore the voices that work to discourage & distract us Be prepared for daily tests

3. Our Response We need to flee for recommitment (Ps 5:7-8) Test all things (1 Thes. 5:19-22) Fill your heart and mind with THE TRUTH! (I Jn 2:20-21) Remind Ourselves Of The Things We Know (I Jn. 5:13)

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
