© 2006 Paul Lin Before Game Starts Prior to the game beginning, the scorers table should be setup (scorebook w/ roster, time clock ready, horns checked, and score display ready) Referee will confirm with the head coach that the coach has certified that his players have all the required equipment and that their equipment and meets regulations. Also the home team head coach will advise the referee of any special field conditions. 5 minutes before the game start, referees will bring the captains from both teams to the center X mark to introduce the captains and referees. The referees will then conduct the coin toss. The visiting team will make the call for heads or tails. The winner of the coin toss will have the choice of picking the goal they want to defend or being the team w/ the first alternate possession. 2 minutes before the game starts, the referees will bring both starting lineups to the center of the field. Each team will line up facing each other (Goalie, Defense, Middie, Attack). The goal that the team will be defending will be on their left side. The goalies will cross and shake hands, then the rest of the team will cross and shake hands. The players will then get to face-off positions.

© 2006 Paul Lin During Game The game is divided into 2 halves. Each half consists of 2, 12 minute quarters. There is a 2 minute rest period between each quarter. There is a 10 minute rest period between each half. Each team will have 2 timeouts during each half. Each team may request 1 equipment check for the game. The home team is not assessed a time out for this equipment check. For the final 2 minutes of the game, when the team that is leading the game has possession of the ball, they will be required to keep the ball in the restraining box. Each half (typically after the first quarter) the referee is required to check one stick from each team (typically the high scorers) for compliance to regulations. Typical equipment penalties will involve the following: Pocket too low. When placing ball inside the head/pocket, there should not be any daylight visible between the top of the ball and the bottom of the sidewall on the lacrosse head. Short too long/short. Typically these involve the attack/middie sticks not complying to the inch restriction. Ball cannot be dislodged from the pocket. The recent designs of lacrosse heads are narrow (pinch) and sometimes can cause the ball not to fall out of the pocket.

© 2006 Paul Lin Tie Game If the game is tied after the 4 quarters, then the game will go into a sudden death over-time. There will be a 2 minute rest period following the 4 th quarter. The overtime period will be 4 minutes in length. If after the 4 minute over-time period, the game is still tied, there will be a 2 minute rest period followed by another 4 minute over-time period. This will repeat until there is a goal. In a sudden death over-time. The first team to score will be the winner.

© 2006 Paul Lin After the Game Each team will line up in a single file line facing each other and shake hands.
